This week is Physician's Week, an honorary time where we recognize and celebrate the dedication of the physicians that spend so much time and energy providing high-quality patient care.  At Heyl Family Practice, Dr. Matthew Macken is one of four physicians whose passion and dedication have allowed our practice to grow and thrive year over year. We are excited to showcase each of our physicians and the impact they've made on their patient community this week.

Get to Know Dr. Matthew Macken - Family Medicine Doctor in Pittsburgh

Dr. Matthew Macken is a board-certified primary care physician at Heyl Family Practice. As a primary care provider for a wide range of patients 18 and older, Dr. Macken has acquired experience with many different medical conditions like diabetes, hypertension and acute illnesses. When asked if there was a specific area of primary care he had most interest in, he expressed that he enjoys Geriatrics and Adult Internal Medicine.

Dr. Macken has received various accolades over the years, including the title as Castle Connolly Rising Star and Top Doctor 2021-2022. With his hard work and dedication to the field of medicine, these awards are no surprise. Outside of the regularly scheduled patient visits each day, he also rounds at UPMC Passavant - McCandless Hospital and provides support to the at Grace Manor, one of our outside facilities.

When asked what he likes most about what he does as a physician, he stated, “The opportunity to learn more about my patients and their families’ lives.” It’s clearly more about providing a high-quality experience for the patient and truly getting to know their needs as they evolve. Dr. Macken also stated, “The unique thing about primary care is the ability to treat patients and build relationships that can last a lifetime.”

When asked what his top goal is for his role as a primary care doctor, he indicated it is, “To maintain the best quality of life for each of my patients and their unique medical needs.'

Dr. Matthew Macken and Heyl Family Practice providers are currently accepting new patients. The offices at West View and McCandless offer same day appointments and a wide range of hours Monday-Friday. Dr. Macken is primarily seeing patients out of our McCandless Office during the week, but can be found at our West View Office periodically.

When Dr. Macken is not working at the office, he is spending time with his wife and his beautiful family.
