On Saturday, August 10th from Noon - 3pm, Heyl Family Practice, in partnership with local community organizations, will give back to the students of West View that need it most this school year. The 'Backpack Bonanza' event will provide students grades K-12 in the West View area with the opportunity to pick out a backpack of their choosing and fill it with school supplies to ensure they start the school year prepared and confident. As a family practice, we recognize the stress that can come from preparing for the new school year, especially for parents who may be struggling to make ends meet. The event will take place in the parking lot of Heyl Family Practice in West View (1020 Center Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15229) and the adjacent alleyway.
Parents have the opportunity to pre-register for the event in order to secure a backpack and the school supplies necessary for the child(ren) in their household. To pre-register, please CLICK HERE. If parents/guardians don't pre-register, they can still show up that day and get a backpack and school supplies (while supplies last). Copies of North Hills School Supply List will be printed and available for students to reference the day of the event.

- Texas Roadhouse Meal Voucher*
In addition to picking up a backpack and school supplies, we'd love for people to stick around for lunch and 'Touch-a-Truck' opportunities. Center Avenue Slice and Frank's Pizza have graciously donated pizza for the event. We also have Ross/West View EMS, West View Borough Police Department and West View Volunteer Fire Department coming to the event with trucks and cars for the kids to check out, as well as the chance to talk with the first responders!
As a practice that's been around for over 75 years, mainly as a result of the continued support from our patients and their families, it's important for us to give back as often as we can. For that reason, we elected to purchase all the backpacks for the event, but the backpacks are only one part of it. We knew we would need the help of our patients and other organizations in the community to collect the supplies to fill the backpacks.
